(Ottawa Dog of the Week for March 24/08)

Dixie the Yellow Lab

“Dixie is a yellow lab, she is almost 2 1/2 years old. My husband bought Dixie as an early Christmas present for me from a pet store. After she was with us for few days she started getting very sick – she had parvo. It was touch and go for a few days but the Billings Bridge Animal Hospital managed to save her. My husband and I then started worrying about her sister who was still at the pet store. We thought if her sister was sick she might not receive the treatment she would need due to the cost. So we went back to the pet store and bought her sister too. Dixie is a very cute dog. She and her sister are so entertaining that our family really has no need for television anymore. Dixie and I have a very special bond, it’s almost like she knows that she was my special Christmas gift.” – Dixie’s Mom, Kelli
