Join us for a walk

NOTE: WALK RAINED OUT – POSTPONED UNTIL JUNE 29th

I have had a couple of requests from readers to put together a group walk. I mentioned this to Lynne, the owner of Bark and Fitz and voila, we have a walk!

It\'s Stella\'s Birthday

Please join us for a walk and to celebrate Stella’s 2nd birthday! (one of Bark and Fitz’ mascot – pictured right) Participate in a 3K walk at the Experimental Farm’s Arboretum at 10AM, Sunday June 29nd.

For further information about some free goodies, how to confirm you are coming and directions to the Arboretum, please read more.

Join us for a walkAn invitation to exercise then socialize with our fellow dog social club members. Our darling Stella, Social Club President, needs to work on her ‘walking on leash social skills’ and what better way than walking amongst fellow members of all breeds and sizes who will understand and have the patience to deal with nervous dogs that need a little time to adapt to ‘the pack’. All dog social club members are invited to join Stella for a 3K walk at the Experimental Farm’s Arboretum at 10AM, Sunday June 29nd.

Register with Stella at Building #72’s parking lot (directions below) with a donation to B.A.R.K. rescue. You will receive a “Goodie Bag” from Stella with coupons, Scoopie mitt bag, training treat samples, ginger snaps for the little ones and ginger bone cookie for the bigger guys & gals. We’ve extended our Westfest Pooch Parade Raffle deadline with a chance to win a $50 Bark & Fitz gift certificate for this social gathering along with the parade participants. Raffle tickets are free with your donation.

Dog Social in the ParkWe will follow Duke the Great Dane (pictured right) and Stella after registration around 10:15 and walk as a group with confidence and patience on the Arboretum pathway. A big off leash field awaits us at the end of our 3K walk where we can break up our pack of dogs and join similar breeds and sizes together for some off leash play time. They will naturally be on their best behaviour since they will have had some exercise and fresh air!

Please remember to bring water and to scoop any poops that comes from your pooch. It is everyone’s responsibility to watch over their dogs and put them on leash if they show signs of stress or anxiety. There is ample space to move a shy or nervous dog away from the group and have it socialize with 2 or 3 other shy dogs. Common sense applies to such gatherings, and this is a public off leash dog park therefore we must all look after our own.

Please let us know if you are thinking of coming by sending an email to us at Ottawa Dog Blog, or Lynne at Bark and Fitz. Let us know your dog’s name and breed with your email. This will help us plan the ‘Goodie Bags’.

Note: You do not have to be a Bark and Fitz Social Club member to participate, but you do need to let us know you are coming!
