(Ottawa Dog of the Week for September 8/08)
Note from Ottawa Dog Blog – sorry, I am a bit late this week!
“Titia is a 15-month-old Shorkie (Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix) with fairly long blonde hair and beautiful, adoring brown eyes. Our little “Angel” was born on Mothers Day in 2007 (May 12) and we brought her home on August 5th, so we’ve had the pleasure of her company for a little over a year now.
Right from the first moment I saw her on Kijiji Ottawa, I knew I had to take this little bundle of cuteness home; she was so cute and I just couldn’t get that adorable little face out of my mind. I’m pretty sure that she loves us as much as we all love her. She is always there to greet us at the door when we come home (although she practically has to “jump through hoops” to get to us as her brother Ozzy is bigger than she is and tries to push Titia out of the way to get the first kiss).
Titia is a very clever little girl. She learns things very quickly (from potty training to dog tricks). She can give both paws and lay down for a treat; we have started teaching her to roll over as well but she doesn’t appear to be interested in this trick, especially since she already gets treats for the other tricks.
We have a 1.7 acre lot for Titia and her buddy Ozzy (brother from another mother and father) to run around in, and boy do they run. They both like to chase and be chased and Titia is really fast, and can turn on a dime. I think she would make an awesome obstacle course dog – she literally flies trough the air – and so gracefully at that…
Lately, Titia has been subjected to a lot of grooming as she tends to find every burr on our lot – and the burrs stick to her like glue. It is a good thing that Titia loves to be groomed – all we have to do is pull the comb out of the drawer and she jumps up on the couch and lies down, ready for some “spa-like” treatment (not to mention the treat that comes after her grooming session) – We are starting to think that she goes out in search of burrs in the hopes of getting groomed and getting a treat.
In her first year of life, Titia has already gone camping and loves it. I am sure she is looking forward to some more camping trips. We have also taken Titia out in the canoe and she appears to love it. She likes to stand up on her hind legs and look out from one side then the other. When she tires of going back and forth she lies down in the boat like a princess and soaks up some “rays.”
Titia loves attention and we love giving it to her. She has a beautiful temperament and you just can’t help but pick her up and squeeze her and kiss her. She is a wonderful addition to our home and we don’t know what we would ever do without her in our life.” – Titia’s mom, LeeAnn

we have a shorkie named norman who is 4 years old ,he is a super loving dog and best friend to chong a mastiff cross,norman is definately boss.he does a strange choking noise that people say is common in schitzus and was wondering if your dogs do it,your dogs are lovely thanks claire
