Not many people know this, but I am getting married in August. We are having a nice small ceremony and reception in our backyard surrounded by family, with two family members in particular; Paddington and Corduroy. It was important to me to have my dogs at my wedding, probably because I am a self-proclaimed crazy dog lady and because they are such a huge part of our lives. I am thrilled that the pups will be free to be with us on our big day.
I am not dressing the dogs up at all, Paddy may wear her pearl collar, but that’s about it. I do have a friend who is having their dog be the ring bearer and because of this, have made sure he looks spiffy in a bow tie. Certain websites have entire sections dedicated to doggy wedding gear and there was even a dog marriage at Woofstock in Toronto this summer.
While my personal opinion is that dog marriages are a tad silly, I do think it’s cute for a male dog to don a bow tie, but Paddington’s pearls are as far as I would go in dressing my dogs up for our wedding.
What are your thoughts on having dogs in weddings? What about dressing up for weddings?

My golden, Misty (12 yrs), a retired guide dog, who helped my Mom walk me down the aile (also our family social diplomat). Rustie is our very smart 11 yr old Dobe. Cody (5 yrs was a known biter), the wiener dog, we rescued 2 months before the wedding. He didn’t even think of biting anyone at our wedding. The only one missing from the family picture is Kitty (I think she slept through the whole thing). Killer, the other doberman, is a step-son of our Dobe. We love our pets!

A friend of mine was married last month. Her oldest dog was her ring bearer. They just attached a nice bag to her collar. You can see it here:

I just got married, and my dog Lucy was in a dress! and her pug boyfriend, ollie, was in a tux! it was adorable and hilarious.

We had all three of our dogs at our wedding and a step-puppy of our Doberman. We didn’t have kids so we have dogs instead!
