I got this information from several sources and readers ~ thank you for sending it in
About 60 dogs are now in Ottawa. Many Ottawa Canine rescues have stepped in to help out and foster these dogs to get them healthy so they can go to their forever homes.
Video will play after a short commercial
If you are considering adding a new family member to your brood, please consider one of these beautiful dogs. 22 out of the over 100 dogs rescued are confirmed to be pregnant so adopting a puppy is a great way to adopt as well.

Saw this the other day on the news. My husband & I have had a husky for the last five years, and they are such wonderful loving dogs. I have to wonder what it takes for someone to allow this to happen.
Does anyone know who might be taking donations for their care while they wait to be adopted out? Anywhere we can send either food or toy donations for them? We’d look into adopting one ourselves, but have no room for a second husky at the moment. We’d like to try and support them somehow.

Jen – I will look into that for you and post it on the blog when I find out.
It’s wonderful what they are doing!! Congratulations on saving so many gorgeous dogs! I am curious as to why they haven’t decided to abort the puppies though? Not only is very dangerous for the moms and the foster homes that will hold them…but do we really need 240+ more homeless dogs when there are already so many that need spots?
It’s a terrible situation for all the dogs. I don’t understand why the owner is not being charged for leaving the dogs in that environment. surely he made money with his sledding business and then left the dogs to suffer/die. I really don’t understand. I’m very grateful that the dogs were found and the rescue groups are able to help.

Hey Liz, are other rescues locally helping too? I’d like to know who they are as we could pass items on to them too.
Yes they are. Westminster Pet Sanctuary was mentioned in the paper as well as the SPCA of Western Quebec but apparently they didn’t mention BARK at all so I thought I’d highlight them.
I’m sure if you called either of the other rescues that they will definitely take donations too!
I will for sure email Westminster. They are great and very responsible.
