LAWS is an independent organization dedicated to promoting the well-being of all animals. It is a registered charity (#BN 11900 4893 RR0001) that survives solely on private donations, receiving no funding from any level of government. They care for lost, abused, or abandoned animals until their rightful owners can be found or they can be placed in new homes.
They are holding their first walkathon, Walk your Paws for LAWS, on Sept. 23 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Carlton Place Arena. All funds will go to the dogs at LAWS rescue.
The charity hopes to raise $10,000 for the LAWS shelter. Registration is at 9:00 am, with the walk beginning at 10:00 am. You can choose between a 2, 5, and 10 kilometre route. There will be prizes for top fundraisers.
There will also be a silent auction to help raise money.
