Global Pet Foods is inviting Ottawa pet lovers to Show Their Hearts this Valentine’s to help local shelters.

The Annual Show Us Your Heart campaign, raises much needed funds for animal shelters across Canada and since 2007 has successfully generated over $150,000 for homeless pets.

The Kanata, St. Laurent and Bank Street Global Pet Foods locations are raising money for Hopeful Hearts, which is a non-profit dog rescue in Ottawa. Hintonburg is fundraising for B.A.R.K..

“Hopeful Hearts does a fabulous job working with the sick and elderly pets that are otherwise unadoptable. They selflessly devote their time rehabilitating these pets and finding them forever homes,” says Karla Briones, Global Kanata and Hintonburg store owner. The Kanata, St. Laurent and Bank Street locations are giving to Hopeful Hearts. The Hintonburg location is giving to B.A.R.K.

In addition to donations, people are also being encouraged to participate in the company’s first ever Tweet-A-Thon, which runs throughout the campaign. Share your reasons for donating, followed by #ShowUsYourHeart, or simply Re-Tweet a message from @globalpetfoods.

My hope is that if we can vote enough to have the Ottawa Dog Park Finder win, the city will see how vital these dog parks are and maybe even create more. 2010 saw many dog parks threaten to be disbanded and because of all of your support, we have managed to either delay, or stop this, but it is my opinion that these dog park deregulations shouldn’t even be entertained. We have so few parks in Ottawa where our dogs can enjoy each other’s company, and I really feel that the exposure in winning this contest will be nothing but great.

So please vote, and tell your friends to vote and together, we can make sure the city of Ottawa knows how important these dog parks are to our wonderful city.

Global Pet Foods is excited to announce the winners of The Ultimate Name Dropping Contest, which was a national search for names for Global’s beloved cat and dog mascot!

GRIZZELDA or “GRIZZ” is the new name of our dog mascot! And PEANUT is the new name of our cat mascot!
PEANUT & GRIZZ will be driving off into the sunset with their pet parents in a brand new Honda Insight Hybrid.

The runner up cat name was JELLYBEAN and CHANCE was the runner up dog name. The runner’s up win pet food for one year.
