Cleo has been found – thanks so much everyone for helping to bring her home!

A small female beagle has been found just outside of North Gower. She was found wearing a purple collar but no tags and is not microchipped.
From a reader, Matt:
We have found a beutiful little female beagle but unfortunately she has no tags or microchip.we would really love to find who she belongs to but unfortunately we haven’t had much luck.she wandered into our garage and doesn’t seem to want to leave.she is a small female beagle and we found her with a purple collar.we live just outside of north gower ontario. If you know anyone who is missing a beagle or who might possibly be able to look after her for a while that would be great. my cell is 613-913-6545

I got this email from a co-worker today. Her brother-in-law’s Doxie has adopted an orphaned kitten!
“Heidi is my son’s sausage dog, very lovable, and loves sleeping with you. Slept with me when I was there. There is a wild cat that had kittens and all of them very died except this little one in the photos. The mother abandoned it, and my son brought it home. They fed the little kitten out of an eye dropper, and after it perked up a bit, Heidi took over. She can’t nurse it, but is trying to do everything else. It is a lovely sight.” ~ Halina (Heidi’s Grandma)
I am a fan of unconventional dog names – I constantly say “hey that would make a cool dog name” and them promptly forget what it was. I’ve decided to start this dog names post and I’ll update it as I think of more names that I like.

(Ottawa Dog of the Week for July 21/08)

“This is my new puppy Jorja (pronounced Georgia). She is a 10 week old female Canaan Dog. I believe she is the only one in the area – the closest Canaan is in Montreal. We got her from a breeder in Minnesota.
She is a very well tempered puppy (surprisingly), loves to play and chew on her toys and bones and tries to ‘herd’ me when I walk her. She is definitely a “Go, go, go … sleep” dog and is desperately trying to make friends with my cats – the feeling is not reciprocal. I look forward to agility training with her and we’ll see what she can do.” – Jorja’s mom, Sarah
Sarah is wondering if there are any other Canaan dogs in Ottawa – if so please let me know and I will pass on the information!
