Check out this adorable video of some Ottawa dogs having fun at Jack Purcell park in August.
Last night the GCA voted unanimously to drop the proposal for the playstructure in Central Park. While they will still do a feasibility study to look for an alternate placement in the community, the immediate problem is gone and we have time to follow their review and ensure the process is done in an equitable way.
I want to thank you and the members [and readers] of Ottawa Dog Blog for supporting this – we were overwhelmingly heard at the meeting tonight, and I am thrilled to say that a community coming together can indeed make a difference!
My warmest wishes to all,
Sandy

I had an inquiry from a reader as to where to snowshoe in Ottawa/Gatineau with your dog off leash?
Seeing as I am really not what you’d call “winter-outdoorsy”, I thought I’d pose the questions to my lovely and every so knowledgeable readers!
If you know of a place to snowshoe with dogs off leash, please leave it in the comments!
Thanks!

(Ottawa Dog of the Week for July 13th/09)
“Mishka is a one year old (June 26th) English Shepherd, a herding breed registered by the UKC. He is a 23 inch, 55 lb sable and white male.
The English Shepherd is a rare breed, alert, responsive and level-headed. They are noted for being devoted family dogs. As a herding dog, this breed likes to be kept busy. A combination of independent thinking with an intense desire to serve a master makes a rewarding partnership for anyone interested in dog sports or herding.
Mishka channels his energies in obedience, agility and enjoys off leash walks in the park.” – Mishka’s owner, Toni Surko (Breeder Barbara and Jonathan Brown)
