(Ottawa Dog of the Week for December 29th/08)

“Mika and Max were born on March 23/08 and are a pug-poodle mix (not to sure on what the trend name would be for their mix). It has been a bit of a challenge with the two of them, some people told me I was crazy. When they play, they sound like gremlins and it can get very interesting! Just like siblings, they fight over everything – who gets the toy, or who gets the lap. When one gets attention, the other looks at you like it’s the end of the world. Max is the true momma’s boy, if he can see me but can’t get to me he will cry until he gets what he wants. Mika, on the other hand, is independent will come on her terms – she is the princess. They are a handful but have brought so much joy into my life and the people around me. I had them with me at work until they were 5 months old, they saw different people every day. They had a fan club! Ladies would come see them at least once a week on their lunch break. I still have people asking where they are. Funny but amazing!

(Ottawa Dog of the Week for December 22nd/08)

“Sophie and Spike, best buddies, are starting to get ready for Christmas. Picture taken in November at a Fundraiser in Carleton Place. Sophie is a 3 year old fawn female and Spike is 2 year old black male. They both enjoy the outdoors, but Spike is a cheetah is a pug’s body, he loves to run and cannot get enough of the outside world. Sophie is “Garfield” the cat in disguise. She loves her food almost as much as her owner. They both live with Karen, Kelsey and Mallory in Almonte, Ontario but enjoying coming into Ottawa for all pug get togethers and fundraising events. (Ottawa Dog of the Week for November 24th/08)

“My name is Tallulah and I am an eight month old pug puppy. I have an endless supply of energy and love to play with other dogs. I always find the bigger the dog the better. I mean it seems only right to play with dogs my own size. While I am only 10 pounds in my mind I am at least 100!

A wolf in sheep clothing, I delight at looking super cute while scheming to do the things I know full well I shouldn’t. I mean I get why Uggs are off limits but that that shouldn’t stop me from eating the curtains, right?

While my mom says sometime she feels like the mother of the kid who eats paste, I know how much she loves and adores me. Not only does she tell me all the time, she lets me have most of the bed while she only gets a sliver and never wakes me when I snore. (Ottawa Dog of the Week for October 27th/08)
*Note – a late entry this week, but better late than never!

“Hi, my name is Nutmeg Benson Barton and I’m 1yr and 1 month old. I live with my sister Hailey and my owners Tim and Colleen. I’m not sure where I was born, but my mommy found me at a pet store on her lunch hour, we fell in puppy love instantly, and by 7p.m. that day I was at my new home snuggling in her arms. I spent my first few months living the high life in an 18th floor apartment with my mom and my Auntie Holly. This is when I first found out what a cat was, I had a buddy named Mabel. She thought I was a pain, but I sure loved to hang out with her. I miss her now, she has gone to kitty cat heaven. I then got to move in with my big sister Hailey. She has taught me how to be a big girl and I follow her every move. Most of all I love to bite at her long tail!

If you haven’t already found the world’s cutest costume for your pug then you’d better get moving. There will be trick and treats for every costumed pug.

A photograph will be present to take spooktacular souvenir photos during the evening. You will be able to view and download the photos for free. A pumpkin bin will be available for people interested in donating to UNDER MY WING – Pug Rescue.

About this event: Come on out and help Greenboro Veterinary Clinic celebrate our 5th anniversary. To celebrate, there will be a BBQ, pet photographer and canine activities demonstrations. All profits raised go to this wonderful animal shelter.

I will be the aforementioned “pet photographer” and I hope to see everyone there! I have some great ides for fun and modern pet shots so come on out and support Big Sky Ranch! Photos are a minimum of $5 donation and you get entered into a raffle for some great prizes!

About this event: Ottawa Bi-Annual PugFest in the fenced-in park behind Landsdowne Park on Bank Street and Holmwood Avenue. Bark & Fitz will be the sponsor of the event, There will be a huge Bake Sale, nail clipping service, Sandy Benoit will be on-hand for dog massage therapy sessions that will help reduce your dog’s stress and muscle tension, and increase relaxation, and lots of other interesting stuff for all the pugs and their owner.
