(Ottawa Dog of the Week for April 4th, 2011)

“My name is Hazel and I’m an 8 month old yellow labrardor retriever. I’m told I come from hunting stock but I prefer to swim rather than retrieve. I take offense that no one believes I am a purebred lab, I think it’s my long legs and nose that throw them for a loop. I am also very flexible and enjoy sleeping in weird and wonderful positions. I’m thinking of taking up “doga”. You can catch me hanging out with my pals at the park or fighting with my big sister Indy over a stick. Although I don’t speak english, you can understand exactly what I’m thinking by the tone of my many moans. I make more grunting noises when I wake up in the morning than my dad (and that’s a big feat). I love to run and squirrels are my favorite past-time. There’s nothing better after a long day of play to hang out with my parents and cozy up by the fire. I think I hear the treat bag rustling… time to go!” – Hazel, as told to her human, Shanna.
